DOT making improvements along Highway 16

SOUTH DAKOTA, — The South Dakota Department of Transportation has started making improvements along Highway 16.

Improvements at the intersection with the Croell Perli Pit are now underway. Crews are constructing a turning lane and an acceleration lane.

The area is between the Founding Father’s museum and Bear country. For now, the highway is limited to single lane traffic in both directions.

The project is expected to be completed on July 2, the day before The Mount Rushmore Fireworks.
