Don’t put your winter coats away just yet- snow is expected Tuesday night!
RAPID CITY, S.D. — This week’s forecast contains a bit of everything, but it is South Dakota, after all! Our next focus is a cold front that brings potential widespread snowfall on Tuesday evening, which dissipates by Wednesday morning but leaves chilly temperatures behind.
We’ll see strong winds, cloud cover and a few scattered snow showers throughout the day on Tuesday, with more widespread snow showers moving in on Tuesday evening. Snow likely falls into Wednesday morning, which could result in a slick commute to work on Wednesday morning. So far, the largest impacts appear to land in Northwestern SD, but these bands of snow may shift in their trajectory over the next 24 hours.
Additionally, winds will shift to come out of the northwest, which will bring some cold air into South Dakota Wednesday. Daytime highs will be down in the 20s, but will return to the 40s by Thursday as the clouds part and we return to more mild conditions.
