Don’t miss the “Dining Out for No Kid Hungry” Fundraiser today
RAPID CITY, S.D. – In America, 1 in 6 children lives with hunger. That’s why thousands of restaurants across the country, including here in the Black Hills, are fighting to make sure that no child goes hungry.
Great Harvest Bread Co. is participating in the “Dine Out for No Kid Hungry” fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 27th.
Marshia Hengen is the owner of Great Harvest Bread Co. in Rapid City. She says, ‘No Kid Hungry’ was organized, it’s a no-profit, organized to help solve that problem because it’s certainly and issue that is solvable. And ‘No Kid Hungry’ does support organizations in all 50 states.”
This is the first year that Great Harvest in Rapid City will be joining on the day of fundraising. “We will donate $5 for every full-size sandwich, salad or grain bowl that’s purchased on Friday, September 27th. We feel like it’s a great opportunity to raise money for solving hunger problems across the country,” said Hengen.
The Feeding South Dakota Backpack program and Youth and Family Services have been past recipients of this program. The goal this year is to raise enough money to pay for 75-hundred meals for kids struggling with hunger here in the U.S. Hengen adds that “helping kids is close to everyone’s heart and so we felt like it was a great opportunity for us to participate with our community, get everyone involved in raising some money and have some great food at the same time.”
So if you want to help, be sure to head on over to Great Harvest Bread Co. on Omaha Street on Friday, September 27th to help make sure that no kid goes hungry.
