DOH completing mass testing of assisted living homes

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Department of Health is completing its mass testing of nursing and assisted living homes across the state.

More than 5,200 residents, and seven-thousand-plus staffers were tested.

The number of positive COVID-19 cases was under one percent.

“In fact less than one half of one percent range so we are pleased by that we are still working on getting through the levels the tiers 3 and tiers 4 assisted living facilities,” said South Dakota Secretary of Health Kim Malsam-Rysdon. “So we expect to see the number of total tested increase in the coming week and a half to two weeks.”

Testing of the facilities will continue, and the Department of Health will keep the public updated.
