Black Hills Community Bank has run the annual “Diaper Drive” for the past 12 years. Collected throughout the month of June, donations come from customers, employees and the community.

The stack of packaged diapers goes a long way in helping Cornerstone care for local, economically-challenged families.

“I would say a donation of this magnitude covers our needs for a year,” said Mark Harlow, President of the Cornerstone Board of Directors. “Plus, we can now hand diapers out to those who come in briefly and have this need.”

It wasn’t just diapers that were brought in; Black Hills Community Bank ran fundraisers and partnered with local organizations like The Optimists Club to purchase more diapers.

“We had a silent auction…online auction that we do in partnership with our Spearfish bank, and then we also had bake sales; we had bingo nights,” says Tiffany Smith, the Vice President of Marketing at Black Hills Community Bank. “We did everything we could.”

They’ve been able to donate more than half a million diapers in the last 12 years, and Smith says they’re already looking to next year’s diaper drive.
