ROCKERVILLE, S.D. — Crews resumed air and ground searches for Serenity Dennard today. Despite the warmer weather and seven hours of intense scouring, they did not find the missing 9-year-old.

Dennard ran away from the Children’s Home Society on February 3. She has not been seen since, and authorities say that it’s unlikely that she survived if she was outside.

The search involved two dog teams, a helicopter and more than 80 people.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office asked the public to stay away from the area where Dennard disappeared on Wednesday so that dog teams could properly search.

They say they will resume looking this weekend if weather permits.
