DeGeest signs to play soccer at Presentation
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Several students in Rapid City announced their plans this week to compete in athletics at the collegiate level.
Makaen DeGeest from Rapid City Central signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to play women’s soccer next year at Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD.
She plans to major in nursing.
DeGeest is a multi-sport athlete competing in cross country, soccer and track.
This past season, she was a starting defender for the Central girls soccer team and helped the Cobblers to a 10-4 record.
Overall, the Central senior is a four-time letter winner for soccer and was one of just five players who started all 14 games last fall and scored a goal on her only shot of the 2022 season.
DeGeest is excited about the opportunity to compete at the next level.
“I think the main thing that helped me make that decision was just the atmosphere there,” said Makaen DeGeest. “When I went to visit, it was just amazing. The team was amazing and all around, I was just very excited about what I found out about the program. It’s really exciting to me. I’ve always dreamed of going to play college soccer. So it was just a really big and exciting thing.”
Twelve student athletes from Rapid City Stevens also signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to compete in collegiate athletics.
NewsCenter1 will highlight all of those athletes starting the week of April 25.
