Deceased man found on snowmobile trail identified
BLACK HILLS NATIONAL FOREST, S.D. – Authorities have identified a snowmobiler that passed away while driving through the Black Hills.
According to Public Information Officer Helene Duhamel with Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the man found dead on a snowmobile trail near the S.D.-Wyo. border was 54-year-old Richard Salyers of Rapid City.
Salyers had dismounted from his snowmobile to take a break from riding 14 miles south of Beaver Creek Campground on Sunday. He then he suffered a medical emergency and died. PCSO Coroner’s office cited natural causes as the official cause of death.
Salyers did not have a passenger with him at the time of his death.
