Deadwood to host presentation comparing city history to returning HBO series

DEADWOOD, SD – As the premium cable network HBO gears up to air the long-awaited conclusion to its critically acclaimed series “Deadwood”, the town which provided the characters and setting is hosting an event highlighting the blend of fact and fiction behind the show.

Chris Wimmer, creator of “Legends of the Old West” podcast will be presenting a program on the finale of the iconic TV show. Wimmer will compare and contrast it with the true events of Deadwood history as they were told on his podcast. Deadwood History, Inc. and the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission will host the presentation as part of their Preservation Thursday event series at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC), 150 Sherman Street, Deadwood.  Admission is by donation and the event is wheelchair accessible.
