Deadwood relaxes their mask mandate from “required” to “suggested”
DEADWOOD, S.D. — The Deadwood City Commission approving a resolution that changes the mask mandate in some city-owned businesses from required to suggested.
The changes also effect public transportation where masks had been required.
Masks are still required in some facilities such as City Hall and the Deadwood Rec. Center, but the city is allowing businesses to regulate their stores with their own policies.
Mayor David Ruth Jr. said, “So far its worked. Its, you know, up to the individual establishments on private business but we still try and keep and maintain that safe product for our visitors.”
Face coverings will remain required until May 17 in city buildings when the City Commission will revisit the item.
