Deadwood hosts first job fair
The event is on May 3rd from 3-6 p.m. at the Deadwood Welcome Center located at 501 Main Street.
“We hear it from our businesses every day that there’s a shortage of employees and we are trying to help out in that workforce shortage is something that we’re striving to help with,” said Lee Harstad, Deadwood Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director.
The fair will have more than 30 businesses and organizations with numerous positions available in a variety of different industries. Some of the industries include construction, hospitality, entertainment, gaming, administration, customer service, retail, food and beverage, security, healthcare, and landscaping. Positions include full-time, part-time, seasonal and year-round.
“There’s going to be an employment opportunity out there for everyone,” said Harstad. “From the beginner just entering the workforce to the seasoned professional, there is something available for you. We know there are good employees out there. We just need to get them up to Deadwood and show them what we have to offer here.”
Each business has donated door prizes for the event and snacks and refreshments will be served.
Job applicants are encouraged to dress for success, to bring a resume, and be ready to accept or negotiate for a position.
“Deadwood has a lot to offer anybody coming to work here. There are good benefits, opportunities for advancement at most companies, and competitive wages. A lot of people just don’t think of Deadwood as being a place they can come and work for a living and we want to prove to them that they can. So we invite everyone to come out and see what we have to offer here in Deadwood.,” he said.
