Deadwood gaming operators to temporarily shut down

DEADWOOD, S.D. — In voluntary compliance with Mayor David Ruth Jr’s request that casinos in Deadwood temporarily shut down, the majority of gaming operators will be shutting down at noon on Wednesday, March 25th.

According to Mike Rodman of the Deadwood Gaming Association, the city and the Gaming Association have been working with operators to begin shutdown procedures in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the noon shutdown, the Deadwood City Commission will hold a meeting at that time to further work out the details of the city’s response.

“Rather than concentrating on gaming revenues, we are shuttering our properties and concentrating on the health and well-being of our employees and their families.” said Rodman.
