Deadwood businesses, casinos to begin reopening this week

DEADWOOD, S.D. —Good news for Deadwood, and ultimately for the South Dakota state coffers as well.

The Deadwood City Commission has approved the second reading of an ordinance that will allow businesses — including casinos — to reopen. The measure passed at the Commission’s meeting Monday night.

Businesses will be allowed to open their doors again this coming Thursday, May 7.

Any business that does decide to reopen will have to follow all federal, state, and local COVID-19 protocols.

Among the casinos planning to open Thursday morning: the Silverado-Franklin, Cadillac Jack’s, and the Deadwood Mountain Grand.

The Deadwood Chamber of Commerce has a full listing reopening plans for businesses in the city.
