Deadline approaching for Vision Fund Project submittals

RAPID CITY, S.D. — City officials are reminding the public that the deadline to submit proposals for the next three-year round of Vision Fund projects is July 23.

In May, the City Council confirmed appointments to the Vision Fund Citizen Committee and authorized the solicitation of potential projects from the public for proposed ideas for the next round of projects.

“That means that the Committee and finally the City Council then can pick the best projects to go forward with for funding, so this is very well regulated process, regulated by city ordinance and we follow that ordinance to the ‘t’,” Mayor Steve Allender said.

The Vision Fund Committee accepts and takes comments from the public, evaluates proposals, and provides recommendations to the City Council. The Council previously authorized utilizing half of the expected annual Vision Funds for community projects with the other half utilized to pay on bonds for construction of the new Summit Arena.
