Custer starts weekend of festivities with Arts & Craft Fair

CUSTER, S.D. — Arts & Crafts kicked off the weekend’s Old Time Country Fair Saturday, July 2, at the 1881 Courthouse Museum in Custer.

The yard surrounding the museum was filled with close to 30 vendors, selling their handmade items like photos, jewelry, ceramics, quilting and much more.

“We don’t have a lot of funds for the museum. We get some money from the city and county, we get the admissions at the door. Basically everyone that works here [at the museum] is a volunteer,” Sue Knudtson, 1881 Courthouse Museum and Old Time County Fair volunteer, said. “We need all the funds we can get. There’s a lot of repairs and work here.”

The celebration will continue in Custer Sunday and Monday with a Children’s Fair both days and more patriotic events on Monday like a parade, a flag ceremony and fireworks to wrap up the weekend.

Sunday will also have a drama-concert and Monday will start off with B1 Flyover.
