Custer Star Academy property up for auction Friday

CUSTER, S.D. — The old Star Academy property in Custer is going up for auction again on Friday.

The property is going up for auction with a minimum one-million dollar bid for the 133-acre property. 44-acres of the land was sold last fall. The buyer will need to put ten percent down.

The state hopes that the buyer will look to create big opportunities in the Custer area.

Ryan Brunner, Commissioner of School and Public Lands, said “A potential buyer doesn’t have to demolish any of the buildings, if they want to remodel it but we’ve lowered the price to try and make it so that there’s not as much risk there and hopefully there’ll be some folks looking to develop the property, put it back on the tax rolls and do some great things in the Custer community.”

The auction is set for Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Custer County Courthouse.
