Even though dining rooms are slowing reopening, curbside is still a popular option.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — One of the big business changes during the pandemic was restaurants changing to curbside pick-up and delivery.

Even though dining rooms are slowing reopening, curbside is still a popular option.

Beau’s Kickstand Food Truck took over the Elks Golf Course Kitchen (now called Beau’s Fairway Grille at the Elks) right when the pandemic hit and began offering curbside pick up. They will continue with the no contact pickups as long as customers want the service, to ensure safety.

Rachael Hopperdietzel, Head Waitress at Beau’s Fairway Grille at the Elks, says, “Because people may not be comfortable coming in anymore and a lot of our clientèle are  older and they are more of the vulnerable population, which we want to be very conscious of because they are our customers and we do care about them.”
Outback Steakhouse has offered curbside service since opening in Rapid City in 2001. They recently teamed up with Door Dash for food delivery and say that the operational side has been a learning curve with all the changes and guidelines.

Jasmine Stangle, Managing Partner of Outback Steakhouse, says, “I would say we almost felt like rookies at curbside and delivery at the volume we were doing currently, so yes it has increased. We’ve had an amazing support from the community of Rapid City and surrounding areas. We definitely had to adapt because it is a different operation.”

Stangle says in the 16 years that she has been with Outback, this Mother’s Day was the busiest for pick-up and delivery that she has seen. Outback’s inside dining area is now open, with proper social distancing guidelines.
