Crack Seal Work on Highway 44 from Airport Road To East of Farmingdale
RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Tuesday, June 13, 2017, crews will begin a crack and chip sealing operation on Highway 44 east of Rapid City from mile marker 54 to 66. Work on the project involves first doing crack sealing on the 12-mile stretch of highway that will take about four weeks to complete.
The chip seal will be applied in August after the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.Motorists will be guided through the project with flaggers and a pilot car during daytime operations. The roadway will be open to normal traffic operations overnight. Motorists can expect delays and may want to find an alternate route.
This work is part of a contract to crack and chip seal other roads in the area. The completion date for the entire contact is October.
The prime contractor on this $1 million project is Simon Contractors of South Dakota from Rapid City.
