Cornerstone Rescue Mission lays out plans during annual banquet

RAPID CITY S.D. – Community leaders came together on Monday to celebrate accomplishments in helping some of Rapid City’s most vulnerable and to share their plans for the upcoming year.

Cornerstone Rescue Mission held their annual fundraiser banquet on Saturday evening at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn. According to Cornerstone Executive Director Lysa Allison, the homeless shelter has big plans for 2019, including expanding their women and children’s home.

They’re also planning on renovating and expanding their thrift store on 11th street. Finally, Allison said Cornerstone is planning on launching a treatment program called ‘Project Cornerstone’ which looks to help people with alcohol and opioid addiction.

“We’re just so grateful to this community,” Allison said. “Cornerstone does not exist without the community’s support, and this is a great example of it. And there’s so many people out there that we’re so grateful for. So thank you everybody who cares about Cornerstone and the homeless in this community.”
