Cookie drive for Ellsworth Airmen

RAPID CITY, S.D. – For a decade the Ellsworth AFB Spouses Club has hosted its holiday cookie drive. On Saturday, they set up in front of Sam’s Club at Rushmore Crossing. They held signs and asked shoppers to purchase cookies and donate them to airmen.

After the drive, the Spouses Club created goodie bags with them and give the bags to all of the airmen who stay alone in the dorms. The club goes door-to-door in the dorms, handing out the cookies next week.

Each airman gets a dozen cookies to keep for themselves or share with their friends. Cookies of all kinds were accepted and the goal this year was 9,000 cookies.

Any extra or leftover cookies go towards squadrons on the base.
