Conference on West Nile Virus and mosquito control set in Aberdeen

The wet summer months meant a hard time for city leaders trying to control booming mosquito populations here in Rapid City and across other parts of the state.

Now, the South Dakota Department of Health is inviting representatives of mosquito control efforts to attend a conference on the West Nile Virus and mosquito control. The conference will be held in Aberdeen on September 22.

The event is available to people who are involved with mosquito control across jurisdictions including cities, counties, and tribes.

The topics set to be discussed include pest management and early human detection of the potentially deadly West Nile Virus.
