Community Calendar Weekly (November 26 – December 2)

There is always something going on in the Black Hills, but sometimes it can be hard to keep track of all the different events and festivities in the area. If you are looking for something to do this week but don’t know where to start, here is a list of picks from our community calendar.

Friday – November 29

  • Olde Tyme Christmas Celebration Kick Off & Lighted Parade |Hill City, All-day | FREE – This free family-friendly event happens every year the day after Thanksgiving! Enjoy shopping, specials and old-world charm in Hill City as the month-long festivities start that comprise Olde Tyme Christmas!
  • Sip & Sample |Rapid City, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm | FREE – Head over to The Journey Trading Co. for happy hour specials. You’ll get two free wine sampling tickets, buffalo meat and gourmet cheese.

Saturday – November 30

  • The Scrooge of Deadwood – Dinner Theater |Deadwood, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm | $50 tickets – The intrigue (play) starts at 6:30 p.m. Deadwood’s most infamous bad man, owner of the Gem Saloon, Al Swearingen, battles his demons and indulges his delights in this very Deadwood Christmas tale that you will not soon forget!
  • Festival of Lights Parade |Rapid City, 6:00 pm | FREE – Every year, there comes a magical evening when crowds gather and children’s eyes glow with wonder. In downtown Rapid City, floats strung with thousands of lights sparkle in the trees, twinkle on the buildings, and dazzle more than 30,000 spectators.

Sunday – December 1

  • Handmade Holiday Fair |Ellsworth Air Force Base, All-day | FREE – A fair full of handmade goods hosted by Ellsworth Air Force Base and sponsored by Piedmont Valley American Legion Auxiliary.
  • Learning Forum: Snakes Alive |Rapid City, All-day | $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, half-off for members – This week, Terry Phillip presents, “Snakes Alive.” Guests will see a python, a bull snake, a rattlesnake and an alligator up close during the Learning Forum. They’ll even get to touch some of the animals.
