Community Calendar Weekly (December 3 – 9)

There is always something going on in the Black Hills, but sometimes it can be hard to keep track of all the different events and festivities in the area. If you are looking for something to do this week but don’t know where to start, here is a list of picks from our community calendar.

Tuesday – December 3

  • Blue Jean Ball 2 |Rapid City, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm | $40 per ticket; $280 for a table of 8 people – The Blue Jean Ball helps fund 2019 operations and contributes to our Journey to 2022 campaign, a fundraising goal to improve accessibility and the visitor experience at The Journey Museum and Learning Center by the year 2022.

Thursday – December 5

  • Whitewood Festival of Trees |Whitewood, 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm | FREE – Whitewood Festival of Trees. Live and silent auction. 5:00 pm preview 6:30 pm auction.

Friday – December 6

  • Turtle Soup – Black Hills Roundup |Rapid City, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm | $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, half-off for members – This week, Paul Higbee presents, “The History of the Black Hills Roundup.”
  • Christmas in the Hills |Hot Springs, 5:00 pm | FREE – Community Tree Lighting and Caroling begin at 5. Santa & Mrs Claus present; then Journey of Lights Parade on Main Street.

Saturday – December 7

  • Holiday Open House |Deadwood, All-day | FREE – The Open House includes children’s activities, great holiday gifts for family and friends, free museum access, and photos with Santa.
  • The Scrooge of Deadwood – Dinner Theater |Deadwood, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm | $50 tickets – Deadwood’s most infamous bad man, owner of the Gem Saloon, Al Swearingen, battles his demons and indulges his delights in this very Deadwood Christmas tale that you will not soon forget!
  • Happy Holidays with the BHSO |Rapid City, 7:30 pm | $12 to $32 – Join the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra for an evening of holiday classics.

Sunday – December 8

  • Black Hills Showcase Chorus Joy to the World |Rapid City, 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm | FREE – Black Hills Showcase Chorus, Sweet Adelines International, invites you to share the JOY of a cappella Christmas music this holiday season.
