College Football: Record setting day for the Hardrockers and Yellow Jackets
Yellow Jackets pick up first win of the season.
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology football team improves to 4-3 on Saturday with a win over Adams State, 56-42.
Running back Connor Silveria shattered the single-game rushing record racking up 425 yards on 46 carries and three touchdowns.
Silveria eclipsed the old record held by Jim Guthrie and Kevin Ptak, which was 245 yards.
Silveria is the first Hardrocker in 15 years to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. He currently has 1,028 yards and leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Hardrockers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 against New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas.
Black Hills State 42, New Mexico Highlands 7
The Black Hills State football team earned its first win of the season on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets rolled over New Mexico Highlands University, 42-7.
Payten Gilmore scored three touchdowns for Black Hills State and broke the single-game rushing record with 248 yards. Gilmore eclipsed the previous record of 244 yards set by Phydell Paris in 2016.
The Yellow Jackets will host Colorado Mesa University on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
