College Football: Hardrockers fall to Dixie State in homecoming game

The Black Hills State football team picks up its first win of the season

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota School of Mines football team hosted Dixie State on Saturday evening as part of the Hardrocker M-Week  homecoming celebration.

The Hardrockers won their first game of the season last week by defeating Simon Fraser University, 26-7.

But the School of Mines couldn’t make it two in a row.

The Trailblazers rallied from four points down at halftime, to beat the Hardrockers, 28-16.

Ahmed Lewis rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns to lead the South Dakota School of Mines.

The Hardrockers now fall to 0-3 in the conference and 1-3 overall.

The South Dakota School of Mines will host Colorado State University – Pueblo on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.


Black Hills State 13, Fort Lewis College 7

Black Hills State defeated Fort Lewis on Saturday for Swarm Days.

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University celebrated Swarm Days on Saturday by beating Fort Lewis College, 13-7.

It marked the first win of the season for the Yellow Jackets.

Kielar Harpham scored on a 52-yard run to give Black Hills State the lead in the first quarter.

However, the Skyhawks scored with 31 seconds left in the first half to tie up the game at 7-7.

The Yellow Jackets scored on their first possession of the third quarter.

Chance Eben punched it in from eight yards out to be BH the lead.

Black Hills State is now 1-3 in the conference and 1-3 overall. The Yellow Jackets will travel to St. George, Utah on Saturday, Oct. 5 to play Dixie State University.
