College Basketball: Black Hills State sweeps Chadron State at home

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men’s basketball team held off a strong Chadron State effort to win on Saturday night 93-87.

Trey Whitley led Black Hills State with 28 points followed by Joel Scott with 23 points.

The Yellow Jackets improve to 16-3 in the RMAC and 19-6 overall.

Black Hills State is tied with Dixie State for the best record in the conference.


Meanwhile, the Black Hills State women’s basketball team rolled over Chadron State on Saturday, 72-49.

The Yellow Jackets had four players in double figures.

Racquel Wientjes led the way with 13 points. Close behind was Danica Kocer with 12 points.

Abby Switzer finished with 11 points followed by Ashlee Beacom with 10 points.

The Lady Yellow Jackets are now 12-7 in the RMAC and 15-9 overall.

Black Hills State and the South Dakota School of Mines are tied for fifth in the conference.
