College Basketball: Black Hills State men are Co-RMAC Champions

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men’s basketball team rallied from 14 points down to beat the South Dakota School of Mines on Friday night, 59-58.

With just seconds remaining in the game, Joel Scott drained a three pointer and a free throw to pull out the win for the Yellow Jackets.

Scott led BHSU with 18 points followed by Sava Dukic with 16 points.

The Hardrockers were led by Mitchell Sueker with 17 points. Allec Williams added 16 points.

Black Hills State finished tied with Dixie State for first in the regular season and are officially the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season Co-Champions.

The Yellow Jackets are the number two seed in the RMAC Tournament.

Black Hills State will host the South Dakota School of Mines in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m.


Women’s Basketball

Black Hills State 60, SD Mines 58

The Black Hills State University women’s basketball team battled back in the fourth quarter to defeat the South Dakota School of Mines on Friday, 60-58.

Morgan Ham scored with six seconds remaining to secure the win for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Racquel Wientjes posted a double – double scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for BHSU.

Racquel Wientjes scored 20 points to lead Black Hills State past South Dakota Mines.

Sami Steffeck led the School of Mines with 20 points.

Ryan Weiss, who leads the Hardrockers in scoring with 17 points per game, was held to just seven points.

Both Black Hills State and the South Dakota School of Mines will open the RMAC Tournament on the road.

The Yellow Jackets will play the Colorado School of Mines, while the Hardrockers will play Westminster. Both games will be played on Tuesday, March 3.
