Club for Boys accepting new members, complete with building renovations
The Club for Boys was busy during the pandemic closures but now they are open and even taking new members.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Club for Boys is open and taking new members. They have 120 slots available for boys ages 6-17. The annual fee is $12.00 per year.
Thanks to donors and a successful capital campaign, the club underwent many renovations including adding a revamped Erickson building where boys are taught life skills and outdoor skills, complete with a learning kitchen.
Also new is a the outdoor sports court, a renovated lobby area and an outside garden area.
The Club has included increased safety measures for members during the pandemic.
Mark Kline, Assistant Exec. Dir. for Club for Boys, says, “It’s important for parents if they are looking for a fun and safe after school program for the kids, so get in here early and get signed up.”
When school is not in session (E-learning days) the Club for Boys is open from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On school days, The Club for Boys is open from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Kline says, “All the upgrades are done, if parents want to come down and take a tour, our new members meetings are usually Monday nights, except when school is out – then if school is closed and we are closed on Tuesdays. Otherwise this Monday for Native American Day, we will have our new members meeting on Monday morning.”
They are offering a Fall Food Service Program through December 31. Snacks will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and supper will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. daily, Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, and when all RCAS schools are not in session, breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Only registered club members are allowed to participate in program activities.
In addition, the Club for Boys is distributing food for supper to families every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays for weekends. Due to limitations in storage, preparation, and labor, families must sign up for this Program.
Families that are receiving snacks and/or supper meals from YFS, the YMCA, or RCAS school district are not eligible to receive food from the Club for Boys in addition to those providers.
Grab N Go participants should pick up meals on the north side of the club off Philadelphia Street. Doors for meal pickup will be labelled.
Meals will not be served October 5, November 2, 11, 26 and 27, and December 7 and 24.
