Clothe-A- Kid will see slight change this year
Love Inc's Clothe -A -Kid program that happens the end of August to get kids ready for school, will be slightly different this year because of the pandemic.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The change this year will be that volunteers will not be shopping with the families.
The Clothe-A-Kid program helps parents make their ‘back-to-school’ budget stretch by offering a shopping day at Kohls for students. Parents sign up for four Life Inc. classes and then receive vouchers for clothes.
Coordinators see this not as a setback, but rather an opportunity for togetherness by encouraging volunteers to participate in the Life Inc. classes to for building relationships.
Raven Mack, Life Inc. Administrative and Children Ministry Coordinator, says,
“We want to continue relationships, to continue that interaction, so rather than building those relationships by shopping, they are building relationships by taken classes together and getting to know one another that way.”
The funds to purchase each child’s clothes are provided by sponsors from area churches.
Mack also says,
“We are going to have a variety of topics that they can choose from for these classes, there is a lot of parenting classes and there is even financial classes so there is a lot of opportunity for them to build life skills.”
