City seeks public opinion on affordable housing

RAPID CITY, S.D. – For months affordable housing has been a hot topic at public works and city council meetings. The city recently put out a survey for the public regarding affordable housing.

It consists of 5 questions that all pertain to the needs of the public and what they would like to see with the latest housing project.

It is a way for the city to take suggestions and better understand how they can cater to affordable housing needs.

“It’s time for some of us- including the city- to step up a bit more and provide actual real opportunities for that to occur,” said Ken Young, Community Development Director.

The city plans on creating several avenues for people looking for affordable housing. As of now, they plan to cater to renters and future homeowners.

The survey will be available until August 19, 2019.
