City of Sturgis focuses on being proactive during pandemic

STURGIS, S.D. — The City of Sturgis is taking the necessary steps to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Although there are no known cases there, the city manager and council are taking preventive measures.

The library, community center, and other city buildings will remain closed to the public until further notice. The library does have drive-thru pick-up and drop-off.

Businesses are also offering curbside pick-up and delivery services in order to decrease the chances of exposure.

“Our city council, our mayor, and our city manager are all staying in touch with the Department of Health as well as the governor’s office in Pierre, so it’s something that we’re right now taking day by day,” says Public Information Officer, Christina Steele.

Sturgis City government officials are hoping to meet this week to make adjustments where needed.
