City groups seek public input on transit plan

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid Transit System and the Rapid City Metropolitan Planning Organization are seeking public input on the community’s future transit plan.

Rapid Transit 4The transit study will address the current service gaps and opportunities for enhancing service if additional operating funds can be identified.

The public will be able to meet with the study team and learn more about the recommendations at two public sessions, where they can also provide in-person input.

“This is a great opportunity to learn more about the transit plan and to provide input,” said City Long Range Planner Kelly Brennan. “Rapid City is a growing community and it’s important to get feedback and input on the transportation needs and issues affecting the community and its citizens.”

One session will be held Wednesday, January 12 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Rapid Transit System Center. The Rapid Transit System Center is located at 333 Sixth Street.

The second session will be held on January 12 as well, but it will be in the Community Room of City Hall from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
