Christmas wreaths for sale to help fund veteran organization
To help combat the rate of veteran suicide, the non profit organization 'Super Dogs for Super Heroes' matches rescue dogs with vets to help them with whatever needs they may have.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Massey is a service dog in training. He was donated to the organization and is a 3 month old German Shepherd/Lab mix.
Super Dogs for Super Heroes needs funds to operate and the pandemic has hindered many fundraising efforts.
They are now selling Christmas wreaths made out of all-natural products that can be taken out with your Christmas tree at the end of the season.
The seed heads are from hollyhocks.
Wreath donations will be used to build a kennel, so the organization can give more veterans service dogs.
“It is so important to veterans in need; there’s a lot of veterans that need a dog. They need something that depends on them so that they have a reason to be around,” says Becky Flanagan, Founder of Super Dogs for Super Heroes.
The suggested donation is 20 dollars per wreath. Becky is willing to deliver in Rapid City or meet in a public setting. You can order wreaths on the organizations Facebook page or call Becky at 605-545-2983.
Becky adds, “For veterans that need a service dog, a dog brings freedom. It brings freedom to veterans whether it’s PTSD or mobility; it gives them the freedom to go shopping, to do things that people do on a regular basis that they don’t even think about.”
There are currently 5 veterans on the organization list to get a service dogs.
