Check out this massive Christmas village in Downtown Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Nerdy Nuts, a local “exotic” peanut butter company, is putting on a Christmas Town event at The Hive, in Main Street Square, for the next couple of weeks.

Christmas Town features a massive Christmas village with 102 different structures that was designed by Jeff Jonas.

You may be wondering what a peanut butter company has to do with Christmas. The co-founder of Nerdy Nuts is actually Jeff Jonas’ nephew.

The village hadn’t been put together since 2016 due to some health issues Jonas was going through.

The long drought sadden his family who grew very fond of the village, so Jonas’ nephew decided that he would bring it back to life this year.

The village took about 150 hours to piece together.

“The village started off in the early eighties as a gift to Jeff from his mother in law, and it started off as just a couple of structures under the tree. It then grew to the living room and then eventually took over the whole entire garage,” said Samantha Polka, the event planner for Nerdy Nuts.

Christmas town has more to offer than the village display.

They also have crafts for kids and a mailbox where kids can drop off letters to Santa.

The crafts are free to all, but on Sundays, they offer a $5 DIY class for adults where they can craft various Christmas decorations.

On Fridays and Saturdays, they have live music from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.

If you’re interested in checking it out, they are open Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sundays from noon to 5:00 PM.
