SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –  The State ‘A’ boys basketball tournament tipped off Thursday in Sioux Falls.

St. Thomas More was looking to win their first state title since 2012.

This year, the Cavaliers entered as the No. 2 seed with a record of 20-2.

However, Elk Point – Jefferson upset the Cavaliers in the opening round, 53-50.

St. Thomas More’s Caleb Hollenbeck hit a three pointer with 3.8 seconds remaining to tie the game up at 50 a piece.

But then Devon Schmitz knocked down a three at the buzzer to secure the win for Elk Point-Jefferson.

Hollenbeck finished with 32 points to lead all scorers.
