Central and Stevens girls soccer match ends in a draw

Late goal carries Stevens past Central in boys soccer

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Central squared off against Rapid City Stevens on Tuesday afternoon in girls soccer.

With three weeks left in the regular season, both teams are still jockeying for playoff positions.

In fact, the Central Cobblers entered the match as the fourth seed in Class ‘AA’, while the Stevens Raiders are sitting in ninth place.

After a great effort by both teams, the Cobblers and Raiders ended in a 2-2 draw.

Central grabbed the lead in the first half with a goal by Emma Avery.

The Cobblers would later add to their lead, as Alexa Henry found the back of the net to make it 2-nil.

However, the Raiders finally answered right before halftime. Abbie Noga passed it Leah Arnold in the box and she was able to score to cut the Central lead in half.

Rapid City Central squared off against Rapid City Stevens on Tuesday in girls soccer.

Stevens added another goal in the second half and that’s how the match ended.

The Stevens girls are now 3-1-2 on the season, while the Cobblers are 5-1-2.



Boys Soccer

RC Stevens 1, RC Central 0

Rapid City Stevens also played Rapid City Central on Tuesday in boys soccer.

Goals were hard to come by for both teams.

But Rex Wiebe finally scored in the 66th minute and Stevens defeated Central, 1-nil.

Stevens improves to 3-1-2 and Central falls to 4-3-1.
