Celebrate Women’s History Month with some amazing speakers in Deadwood
DEADWOOD, S.D. – SD CEO West Women’s Business Center honors the legacy of South Dakota women during Women’s History Month at the return of the annual Women In History Luncheon on March 16 at The Lodge At Deadwood from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
The national theme of Women In History 2023 celebrates ‘The Women Who Tell Our Stories.’ Kelly Kirk, Director of the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center will lead us on an exploration of the lives of several women who chronicled the stories of the Black Hills. These women researched and wrote, and presented widely on their material, sharing the stories of the people and places they were passionate about. They were active in their communities, creating connections and sharing their interests with others. Their work and writings live on, in publications and in archives, providing insight into how these women served as keepers of community stories.
Dew Bad Warrior, Zuya Sica Consulting, Sierra Ward, Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, and representatives from Dakota Dreamers round out the luncheon’s presenters.
“We are delighted to learn about the past and present storytellers in our community at the Women In History Luncheon.” says Carissa Hauck, Director of SD CEO West, “We want the women who attend the Women In History Luncheon to walk away feeling empowered by our speakers and feel inspired to record and share the stories they experience and see every day.
