Car goes airborne while exiting I-90 in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, SD — A woman walked away with minor injuries after her car left Interstate 90 and careened over Maple Avenue on Sunday.

The Rapid City Police Department says a woman tried to merge onto the westbound interstate coming off of Lacrosse Street.

She kept driving on the shoulder and eventually ran off the road.

Her car caught air, sailing over North Maple and eventually crashing into the concrete sidewalk below the highway bridge.

Law enforcement says the woman was wearing her seatbelt, and that she’s pretty lucky that she didn’t receive significant injuries.
