California monolith pops up after finds in Utah, Romania

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Days after the discovery and swift disappearance of two shining metal monoliths half a world apart, another towering structure has popped up and then quickly vanished, this time in Southern California.
KEYT-TV reported Wednesday that the tall silver monolith was at the top of a hill in Atascadero, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. But by Thursday it had vanished.
Video posted online shows several young men tearing down what appears to be the same monolith while chanting a religiosity slogan but authorities haven’t confirmed they were the vandals.
The monolith was similar to one discovered in the Utah desert and another found in Romania.
