Buy a cookie, help a child: Mary’s Mountain Cookies in Rapid City is raising money for Children’s Miracle Network

RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Friday, January 6, Mary’s Mountain Cookies in Rapid City started its annual fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN).

Mary’s Mountain Cookies and CMN

The owners of Mary’s Mountain Cookies are very familiar with CMN. Their daughter spent 74 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Monument Health.

In previous years, the fundraiser only applied to their chocolate chip cookie sales. But, this year, they are adding M&M and S’mores cookies to the list.

25% of the sales from those cookies through February 6 will be donated to CMN.

CMN at Monument Health

Monument Health has been a part of CMN for 34 years.

A significant portion of the funds they raise and that are donated by members of the community goes towards supporting the NICU.

“A need is ongoing. They have kids coming to them every day. On average, our neonatal intensive care unit is treating over 350 babies every year. So their greatest need may be big things like lifesaving equipment, their giraffe omni beds, giraffe warmers,” said Shawn Powers, the Program Manager for CMN at Monument Health.

The funds also support things like camera systems to keep an eye on the newborns, tubs to wash the babies in, and even the printer for photos of the infants.

You can also donate directly to CMN through their website.

“Know that by doing so, 100% of what you give stays local. It supports the areas in our hospital where we’re getting our youngest, most vulnerable patients coming to us each and every day,” Powers said on donations.

So, if you’ve been craving a cookie, now would be the time to buy one for a good cause.
