Brandon Valley defeats Spearfish and Sturgis in baseball

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The 2020 South Dakota summer baseball regular season is quickly winding down.

Rapid City Post 22 and Brandon Valley Post 131 entered this weekend ranked number one and two in the latest standings.

The Hardhats split a pair of games with Brandon Valley on Friday night at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Brandon Valley continued its West River road trip on Saturday with games against Spearfish and Sturgis.


Brandon Valley 24, Spearfish 1

Brandon Valley scored 13 runs in the third inning and Post 131 rolled over Spearfish, 24-1.

Noah Bertsch and Hunter Marso each had three RBIs for Brandon Valley.

Aiden Haught led Spearfish with two hits in three at bats.

Alec Sundsted scored the only run for Spearfish in the second inning.

Brandon Valley defeated Spearfish on Saturday, 24-1.


Brandon Valley 12, Sturgis Titans 9

After falling behind 8-2, the Sturgis Titans battled back to pull within one in fifth inning, 8-7.

Unfortunately, Brandon Valley Post 131 held onto win, 12-9.

Post 131 was led by Lake Terveer who finished with five hits and three RBIs.

The Titans were led by David Anderson who had three RBIs thanks to a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
