Box Elder woman stabbed to death

Authorities are investigating the crime.

BOX ELDER, S.D. — The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide in which a female victim was stabbed in Box Elder.

In a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, a female has died from a stabbing that took place at an apartment building, located at 615 Northern Lights Boulevard. The incident was reported on Sunday, October 11 at around 10:30 p.m.

An autopsy was performed on the morning of Monday, October 12. The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Tessa Curley of Box Elder.

The Box Elder Police Department, Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a joint homicide investigation.

According to Helene Duhamel, the Public Information Officer at the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, there is no threat to the public at this time.  In regards to suspects or person(s) of interest, Duhamel said that the PCSO is following up on leads.
