Box Elder police investigate overnight vehicle burglaries

BOX ELDER, S.D. – The Box Elder Police Department is looking for three individuals tied to overnight break-ins in the Creekside Estates subdivision.

The subdivision sits off Radar Hill Road. Box Elder police say several reports of vehicle burglaries and attempted residential burglaries occurred in the area around midnight Wednesday.

A 2015 Chevy Traverse, that was left unlocked, was stolen and driven around before being dumped nearby unscathed. The contents of the car, a purse with a wallet, ID, checkbook, and a knife, were stolen.

Detective Duane Peyrot says home security cameras helped get a good look at the people involved. Images from those cameras continue to circulate on social media.

“Three individuals, two males and a female, I think about 15 to 20 years old,” said Peyrot. “We got a really good look at one of the males who has medium length dark hair and dark glasses. I think with the exposure it’s getting, we can get them identified.”

Peyrot also urges residents to lock their vehicles and reminds them to never leave guns in vehicles.
