Box Elder annual Water Warz makes a splash at City Hall

BOX ELDER, S.D. – Box Elder City Hall was the location of a legendary face-off on Tuesday. The winner? Everyone in attendance.

The Dunk Tank In Action At Water WarzIn a very special team-up, the Box Elder Police Department and the Box Elder Fire Department came together with City Hall to help make the second annual Water Warz happen.

Officers handed out snacks and popsicles to everyone in attendance, with a variety of activities and games to keep the fun going. Of course, water guns, water balloons and even a dunk tank were on hand for everyone to cool off amid a recent string of blazing hot temperatures in the area. Kids even got to test their aim and accuracy with water balloon launchers and a fire department hose.

The event culminated in a battle for the ages — a water balloon fight featuring the Box Elder Police Department versus Box Elder Fire Department. However, as the water balloons flew back and forth, the real winner was everyone in the community.

“It all came together with good planning a few years ago. And why not?,” Officer John Cargill with the Box Elder Police Department said. “If you can have people coming together and do something fun for a good cause, we figured why not? Go ahead. This is the second year we have done it.”

The City of Box Elder Facebook page has a list of other events going on through the rest of the summer, with their annual Patriot Day celebration rounding out the remainder of the season.
