Bond set at $100,000 for Box Elder woman accused of abusing, killing two-year-old girl
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Bond has been set for a Box Elder woman accused of abusing and killing a 2-year-old girl.
Precious Delaney Black Elk, 22, is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond for two charges including 2nd-degree manslaughter, which is a class four felony that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine and aggravated child abuse which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
The charges stem from an incident in which the toddler was found unresponsive by authorities when they responded to a report of the child not breathing on Sunday, February 7.
Black Elk’s attorney said she admitted to “losing her temper” and tying the child’s leg to a bed. Court officials say that the girl was found with significant bruising, including finger marks on her face.
No date has been set for a preliminary hearing.
