BoBtanical Pantry: Caprese Tomatoes

BoBtanical Pantry is back for another season!

Now that the vegetable garden harvest is in, it’s time to start putting the bounty to use. Master Gardener Mel Glover offers up an old Italian favorite.

Caprese Tomatoes


Loaf of French bread

Medium sized tomatoes

Fresh Mozzarella Cheese

Basil leaves

Extra Virgin Olive Oil


1. Slice bread and brush with Olive Oil then place under the broiler until toasted.

2. Place slice of Mozzarella cheese on toast with slice of tomato and basil leaf.

3. Drizzle olive oil over Caprese tomatoes and serve as appetizers.



Fresh Mozzarella balls

Cherry or Grape tomatoes

Basil leaves

Tooth picks


1. Place fresh Mozzarella ball on tooth pick with basil leaf and tomato.

2. Serve as appetizers
