Boat docks to be removed from Black Hills National Forest reservoirs

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Crews will begin removing boat docks on the three large Black Hills National Forest reservoirs on Monday, October 19, due to the approaching winter season.

The boat docks to be removed include the north and south docks at Pactola Reservoir, the two docks at Sheridan Lake north ramp, but the dock at Sheridan Lake south will remain in place. The docks on Deerfield Reservoir will be removed as well.

“The boat ramps will remain open but people should be extremely careful as the ramps can be icy and slippery this time of year,” said Public Affairs Officer of the Black Hills National Forest, Scott Jacobson.

Crews will also do maintenance on the docks while they are removed, and the boat docks will be put back in the water in the spring when conditions allow.
