Boat docks at Black Hills National Forest to be removed for the winter

Black Hills National Forest

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Thursday, December 9, various boat docks at the Black Hills National Forest will be removed for the upcoming winter season.

According to a release from the U.S. Forest Service, these docks include the north and south docks at Pactola Reservoir and the two docks at Sheridan Lake north ramp, while the dock at Sheridan Lake south will remain in place year-round. Additionally, the boat docks at Dutchman Campground and Custer Trails Campground on Deerfield Reservoir have already been removed.

“The boat ramps will remain open, but people should be extremely careful as the ramps can be icy and slippery this time of year,” said Public Affairs Officer, Black Hills National Forest Scott Jacobson.

The boat docks are planned to be put back in the water in the spring when conditions allow for it.
