Rapid City BMX hosted their first ever Spooktacular Races at Robbinsdale Park Sunday afternoon.

Competitors of all ages, from Strider riders to adults, took to the new BMX track at the park. Many of them donned creative Halloween costumes.

The races were an opportunity for racers to get a head-start on Halloween while earning competition points.

It was also a way for Rapid City BMX to better fulfill its mission with its younger members.

“Our slogan is, ‘Keeping Kids on the Right Track,'” said Chris Blair, track director at Rapid City BMX. “We’ve got kids out here that we’re trying to teach them about sportsmanship, teamwork and getting out there and pushing themselves to get better at a particular sport. So, we just want to teach kids how to get on bikes and enjoy riding.”

Organizers plan to make the Spooktacular Races an annual event. Visit Rapid City BMX online to learn more about the organization.
