Black Hills State University exceeds capital campaign goal

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hill State University celebrated the end of its five-year capital campaign. The university exceeded its goal by $5 million.

With the help of generous donors and sponsors, the university raised over $45 million between 2014 and 2019. This capital campaign now holds the record for the highest funds raised.

Five million of those funds went towards scholarships; academic, athletic, and need-based. These donations changed the lives of hundreds of students, allowing them to succeed and take on goals that once seemed impossible.

“Black Hills State University appreciates and wants to thank all of our donors that made this possible. It’s just tremendous how they support this great institution,” said Steve Meeker, the Vice President of University Advancement.

About 20 percent of students at Black Hills State, which is around 600 students.
